There's a warning people in Fiskerton near Lincoln and the surrounding areas could remain at risk of flooding for months as repairs on the embankment of the river Witham are being discussed,

It follows recent storms.

A total of 70 homes were evacuated because of the risk of the riverside collapsing at the time.

We spoke to local people about the situation.

I just hope something gets sorted

They said: "I suppose we need to know the riverbank is in good order."

"I'm just hoping something gets sorted."

Another told us: "It's still very unsure if we get a lot of rainfall it's on top of an already damaged bank."

"Maybe put in more defences close to the riverbank."

The Environment Agency have warned it will take time .

We've had a really helpful meeting with the community

The Area Flood Risk Manager Ben Thornely says they have monitoring in place at the moment.

"Our duty starts 24 hours a day and we'll be alerted if the situation changes."

"We've had a really helpful meeting with the community in Fiskerton just to help them understand the impact of what's happened and how we're working to rectify the situation."

"We're currently working on plans as to how we reinstate the embankment where we've had those problems and make sure they're aware of the warning informing them - which we have done and will do."

"It's really important people sign up to the flood warning service".
