New Year Honours for people in Lincolnshire and Newark.

Several people in the area are celebrating.

Among those receiving honours locally was Debbie Langford from Newark who got the British Empire Medal.

She chairs the town's branch of the Royal British Legion and does other work to support veterans too.

Meanwhile Dr Judith Graham from Gainsborough has received a British Empire medal for services to the NHS especially during the pandemic.

Amongst helping the elderly and fundraising she introduced around 12 health and wellbeing rooms for staff- to support their mental health during difficult shifts.

She says it's not just for her, but the whole team behind her.

Elsewhere Jon Sass from Market Rasen has been honoured for services to waterway and windmill restoration whilst Deborah Campbell also from Market Rasen is honoured for services to flood prevention and volunteering.

Mary Thomas who's chair of the Cleethorpes RNLI is also on the list and there are honours for two of Lincolnshire police's finest.

Former Lincolnshire chief constable Bill Skelly and current Assistant Chief Constable Kerrin Wilson receive the Queens Police Medal.

John Mapletoft of Grantham is honoured for services to table tennis , Janice Wilkinson who teaches at Willows Primary School Grimsby is honoured for services to Education whilst Ellen Thinnessen is also on the list. She's chief executive of Sunderland college but is from the Grimsby area . Whilst Gill Angell from RAF Scampton is honoured for services to the RAF.

Finally Gainsborough Trinity manager Curtis Woodhouse has been given a British Empire Medal.
