Marine pilot dies whilst working on the River Humber
An investigation has been launched
A marine pilot's died after sustaining injuries whilst working on the River Humber.
Port operator Associated British Ports has confirmed the man's death which took place yesterday.
An investigation into the exact circumstances has begun.
ABP says their thoughts are with his family.
The operator released this statement on the matter:
ABP is saddened to confirm that one of our marine pilots was fatally injured during operations on the water yesterday afternoon.
The gentleman's next of kin have been informed.
We are also providing support to our colleagues during this difficult time.
The circumstances around the tragic incident are being investigated by the authorities and ABP is assisting their inquiries.
Accordingly, it would not be appropriate to comment further at this time.”
