Police have arrested a 27 -year-old man following a roof top standoff in Grimsby that caused major traffic disruption this morning (Friday 3rd February).

One man climbed onto a roof to reportedly avoid arrest in the Hainton Avenue area with the road nearby closed off.

A man was arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm.

Inspector Matt Stringer of the local Neighbourhood Policing Team said, “I want to thank the local residents and businesses for their patience this morning, while we had to close the road to ensure their and emergency services safety.

“I fully appreciate the inconvenience this can cause, however was essential so that we could bring the incident to a swift and safe conclusion.

“It is a priority for us to ensure the communities we serve are kept safe and the closures and cordons which were in place this morning, were necessary in order to do this.

“I would like to reassure the community that this was an isolated incident and there is no wider threat to the public.
