Hopes to clamp down on rural and cyber crime in Lincolnshire
The county's first event aimed at tackling the types of crime takes place tomorrow (Wednesday)
It's hoped a new event will help to reduce rates of rural and cyber crime in Lincolnshire.
The conference, featuring talks from the county's police force and the National Cyber Security Agency, is the first of its kind.
The aim is to give businesses locally an opportunity to learn more about the initiatives and strategies being delivered to make Lincolnshire a safer place to live and work.
Lydia Patsalides, East Midlands Regional Manager for CrimeStoppers, told Hits Radio Lincolnshire the two types of crime have become more linked recently: "I think Covid's had a lot to play with that. Particularly those organisations that were able to continue working, and of course we're so reliant on our rural businesses and agricultural sector, that they kept functioning.
"A lot of cyber crime will revolve around stealing data and trying to take money out of businesses, which can have a huge devastating impact on a businesses. It can make a business go under.
"If somebody's data is stolen, whether it be from a supply chain, or any other type of agricultural organisation; if they've lost confidential data, reputationally that could impact on whether businesses want to work with them in the future."
