Fire and rescue dog Colin, from Lincolnshire has picked up a small injury while helping search for survivors in Turkey.

The service says he is being treated and hope he will be back in action tomorrow.

Colin who is a collie dog - along with four other team members from Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue are currently on the second day of their searches.

They're part of a 77 strong team from the UK who are in Turkey to help search for survivors, and includes Neil with Colin the dog, Colin, Ashley, Mark

The team had a full search and rescue day yesterday and took to twitter to say they had achieved two live rescues in very challenging circumstances

Chief Fire Officer Mark Baxter from the service told us the plan for while they are there:

"The initial deployment is for fourteen days - we will be assessing that as the fourteen days go on. If there's a presence required longer than that then we will send out relief teams.

"They are always prepared to go at a moments notice - they always have their bags packed and their equipment ready so when they do get the request they get to the airport as soon as they can".

He told us more about how the searches work:

"They get briefings in regards to being allocated dedicated areas within the whole of the earthquake zone where they'd want their teams to deploy.

"Usually the first port of call is using the dogs as they can run over a large areas really quickly. They can identify where they can smell if there are people still alive under the rubble".
