A year ago today Lincolnshire hospitals recorded their first Covid-19 related death.

Now ULHT, the trust in charge, has had over 800 on their wards.

Andrew Morgan is the Chief Exec of United Lincolnshire Hospitals Trust, he says we’ve come a long way:

"Our learning has certainly developed throughout the year - particularly our colleagues in Intensive care. I think as a national health service as well as our part of it , I think our ability to manage Covid has developed during those 12 months"

"I've been in the NHS 39 years. This has no undoubtedly been the most challenging year I would say in the NHS's history. It has been very tough and I don't think people will have experienced anything like this before in their careers"

Many people have lost loved ones during the pandemic

Tiffany Strudwick, from Boston, lost her mum and her grandad to covid-19. She says it's been a very difficult time:

"Especially the last couple of weeks where everyone's hoping for normality to get back to normal. And as much as I'm looking forward to a bit of normality. For those who've lost loved ones - it's never going to be the same"

"My family is struggling - My dad is struggling, all my sisters are my brother is particularly as well. Then last year when we lost my Grandad later in the year we had his funeral just before Christmas and it brought back a lot of memories, and it gives that anxiety"

"It's a real kick in the gut. Even Mother's Day just passed, we made a big thing of Mother's day every year. We always bought Mum cards chocolate, wine, gin - she absolutely loved the wine and gin! To not be able to do that this year was a real difficult day. The other day it would have been her 53rd birthday so actually just really tough"

Overall, there have been 2,160 deaths in Greater Lincolnshire - almost 1,300 of these have been in hospitals.
