More police are on patrol around Lincoln as new students arrive at University.

Freshers week is underway, as many go to the cities pubs and clubs.

Police officer Claire Hime covers the uni area.

"We've had increased patrols and engagement in the evenings and through to the early hours in the area of the university.

"We started that when the new students started arriving in the city.

"We're working alongside the university security team, there's lots of responsible people in the nigh time economy, licenced premises staff and door staff.

"So between all the agencies and the police, there'll be lots of people out there that will be helping keep people safe.

"We recognise that this will be often the first time that young adults have lived away from home, they'll be out about enjoying the city for the first time.

"We want to be out there to engage with people, speak to people, and there's a possibility that people may need our help."
