Humberside police will have extra patrols across Northern Lincolnshire this weekend following the reopening of beer gardens.

Officers say they'll target "hotspot areas" in places like Scunthorpe, Grimsby and Cleethorpes and will use enforcement action if necessary.

They say it's vital people follow rules so infection rates are kept low.

There's particular concern that people might be meeting up and possibly breaking rules at Cleethorpes which is a major tourist attraction.

Chief Superintendent Darren Downs has been briefing officers.

He says he believes most people will be sensible and take things cautiously.

He also stressed although they're ready to take action, officers will only do so as a "last resort".

Their aim is to be as visible as possible whilst also engaging positively with the public.
