Final day for students to move out of University of Lincoln accommodation block
It's after a fire safety review
Today is the final day students at a University of Lincoln apartment block- deemed a 'fire risk'- have to move out
A safety review found the Gateway building needed improvements -
Around 500 students had been living there.
We spoke to student Laura Gray:
She told us: "At the end the day we are living here, we are tenants in their building so to say - by the way you have to move out, that's unprofessional really and it's not nice."
"Here is one of the safest buildings, you can't get in without a key, you can't get onto the floors, not even into the general flat areas."
"You can't get into any rooms without a key."
"It was safe here and well protected but it's now quite worrying I could be put into accommodation which doesn't feel as safe."
We approached the University of Lincoln for a comment.
They said: ""It's been a huge and complex operation and it's ongoing as students continue to get support"
"The team have been working around the clock" in this difficult time"
