Eleven new electric vehicle charging points are going to put into council owned car parks across North Lincolnshire
They’ll be installed across Ashby, Brigg, Barton and Scunthorpe meaning over 22 vehicles can charge at any one time
It’s thanks to over £60,000 of Government cash.
Cllr Rob Waltham, leader, North Lincolnshire Council, said:
“Protecting the environment is at the forefront of many people’s minds and it is something we are extremely passionate about in North Lincolnshire.
“People across our region are keen to do their bit and reduce their carbon footprint, and installing these new charging points will make it easier for them as more people make the switch to electric.
“In awarding this funding, the Government has recognised our strong track record for implementing green policies that will build a healthier life for our residents.”
The new electric vehicle charging points are part of the council’s plans to promote clean, green transport opportunities.
Cllr David Rose, cabinet member for environment and strategic planning, said:
“Protecting the environment is everybody’s responsibility. Installing the electric vehicle charging points will make a big difference, as we drive down carbon emissions and create cleaner air.
“We are also forging ahead with our fantastic environmentally-friendly projects. Together, we’ve planted nearly 70,000 trees and are well underway to our ambitious target of 172,000, one tree for every person in North Lincolnshire.
“As well as this, we have received brilliant feedback from residents for our wildflower planting, with the Mortal Ash Hill (A18) in Scunthorpe believed to be one of the biggest roadside wilding projects for a single stretch on the North of England.”
The council has received £66,870 from the Government’s On Street Residential Charging Scheme and aim to complete the installation by Spring 2022
