A charity in Scunthorpe is stepping up its efforts to help sex workers living on the streets during the pandemic.

The Blue Door is currently supporting 15 women.

It provides them with food and drink, as well as advice on sexual health and Covid guidance.

Donna Stewart is leading the project and says it’s been a struggle since lockdown first kicked in in March.

She says, "the challenges for them are huge as a lot of them are rough sleeping as well."

"The guidelines and precautious that we should be sticking to for covid are very difficult for them in their circumstances."

"They are on the streets, its a question of survival at times."

"I think there's a huge difference between keeping themselves safe, and the fact that they're surviving on the streets."

"Sometimes these girls feel that this is their only option"

"Put that into the mix with the pandemic as well and they have a lot of harsh decisions to make for themselves."
