Cleethorpes' MP says he has real concerns the arguments following Boris Johnson's resignation from Parliament could damage his party.

Martin Vickers says it's regrettable Mr Johnson is stepping down as an MP along with Nigel Adams and Nadine Dorries.

Mr Vickers is worried it could impact the party's chances of success in the resulting by elections after Mr Johnson and Rishi Sunak criticised each other.

Clearly it's disappointing and we now have 3 by elections to face

He told us: "Certainly in the case of Nigel Adams and Nadine Dorries they should have waited until the general election."

"For Boris it's a slightly different position but he should have waited for the report to be presented to the House of Commons."

"Just when we had a period of stable Government over the last 6 or 7 months since Rishi Sunak took over we've now got all this turmoil which is regrettable."

"Clearly it's disappointing and we now have 3 by elections to face - by elections are difficult for all Governments at any time."

"They tend to be smaller turnouts and people are not motivated in the same way and it's an opportunity to bash the Government whoever it happens to be."

The Government for their part say they're concentrating on delivery for the country.
