Visitors to Cleethorpes this bank holiday weekend are being given some tips on how to keep safe.

As part of this – the beach safety team will be handing out wristbands for children to wear in case they get lost.

Scott Snowden, resort manager for Cleethorpes, said:

“The bands are a strip of plastic that goes around your child's wrist and it just is very bright and visible, you can include your mobile number and there's also some safety advice on the wristband. So if anybody wants to pop into the resort hub office which is just opposite, the pier, we will quite happily give you a pen as well so you can write your number on there.”

“Normally staff of running up and down the promenades looking for distressed parents. We do find them pretty quickly but I think this is just a clever way to help. if your child does get lost then as a parent you've got some confidence that you know a staff member will keep your child safe in the result

The team will be on hand giving out some safety advice to those visiting the seaside resort.

Scott said:

“Parents, please really just to be aware of where your child is. There are some risks on the beach with some sand banks that do cut off very quickly with our incoming tides. And we've also got some mud traps around the beaches as well. That's why my staff are out, patrolling every day of the year to maximize people safety 'cause we know where these traps are, so we'll be giving advice.”

RAC Breakdown research suggests that drivers are set to make the most of the weather over the bank holiday with an estimated 16.7m leisure trips planned, a similar number to 2019.

Scott added:

“From our previous experience of working here for the last few years, the last bank holiday weekend of the summer school holidays is known as one of our busiest. so, we've put additional resources on this weekend just to make sure that everybody is safe.”
