Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue have revealed their call centre received three times the standard number of emergency calls during the heatwave on Tuesday with many of these calls being due to wildfires.

The hot weather stretched resources across the day.

However the service says they did manage to cope and will be prepared if something similar happens again in the future.

Many of them did involve fires which saw grass or farmland badly burned.

However probably the biggest one was at an apartment block in Boston.

The cause is still under investigation but it's thought there may have been a gas leak.

People in the area were evacuated at the height of the blaze.

We spoke to Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue area manager Spencer Creek about the high level demand on Tuesday.

He told us: "It's not something new that we planned for, it's something we already planned for a number of years."

"However it would be wrong of me to say that we wouldn't learn from the experiences we had this week."

"We will do some debriefs to make sure we've captured all of that learning."

"Everybody in the community has a responsibility to ensure they are careful and they try to limit their actions that could lead to a fire starting."

"The appeal is really to maintain that level of responsibility."
