Boston's May Fair has been cancelled after being postponed earlier this year.

The staple of Boston's calendar usually takes place over the May Day Bank Holiday, but was cancelled in 2020 for the first time in living memory amid the pandemic.

This year the fair was pushed to run from Saturday 28 August to Saturday 4 September.

However organisers have now pulled the plug on the 2021 edition entirely, citing a 'variety of factors' for the decision.

The event usually brings a festival atmosphere to the streets of the town with rides, stalls, games and lots of local food and drink on offer.

It's one of the few remaining town centre fairs in the country and draws in thousands of visitors.

In a statement Boston Borough Council and the Showmen's Guild say they're now working on a scaled down event in Central Park later this year.

The fair is expected to return in full in May 2022.
