A boost in staycations this summer has been described as 'critical' for helping Lincoln businesses recover from the pandemic.
Because of the pandemic and lockdown, many have faced a rough time - but, due to travel restrictions abroad, the city has seen a boost in tourism.
Charlotte Goy is the Chief Executive of Visit Lincoln:
She says everyone made the most of a difficult situation
"We've come together and worked as a collective to make sure people coming back to this city feel safe - and that they also have a good time and they reconnect with Lincoln. That's something that we've absolutely seen happening across the city"
"Lincoln and Lincolnshire absolutely took advantage of the staycation trend and what we saw were a lot of people reconnecting the city. So yes the staycation market has been absolutely critical for the recovery of the hospitality sector and tourism sector across the city and county"
She says people really pulled together to work as a team:
"It's been reflected in the kind of experiences and feedback and positive sentiment that we've had from shoppers local residents and visitors as well. So even though it's been challenging we've absolutely made the best of the situation presented to us"
