A Spalding 'baby bank' is helping families throughout the county
It doesn't matter what situation you are in, if you need their help, they are there for you
Two women have set up the Spalding & surrounding areas baby bank, after noticing lots of people writing on Covid supports group needing help, who had young children.
Steph Jennings and Sarah Phoenix launched the scheme last week.
Steph Jennings said:
"To access services like food banks, you often need to be referred, meaning you need to meet certain criteria, which if for example you are on furlough, you might not meet that criteria, but you might still be struggling that last week, until the next pay day, and we are happy to help everyone, not just those who meet the criteria."
They are currently giving out 'baby boost parcels', which provide a weeks essentials for a baby or young child, including nappies, toiletries, clothing and blankets. People can then access their Facebook page for other items like cots.
Steph continued:
"It eases a bit of pressure on families, parents, carers to not worry about some of these items, because they are not always the cheapest, and people are having to make decisions on what they do and if they should make a nappy last, we don't want anyone to feel like that.
"I consider myself very lucky that my young children, all those needs are met and I would hate for anyone to be struggling with that. I wouldn't want anyone to be in that position."
