A man’s been charged with murder after a woman’s body was found in Newark. Officers were called to a house on Victoria Street just before midday on Thursday 22nd July, after members of the public reported concerns.
Valdamara Zemaitiene, aged 48, was found dead inside the house. Her partner 50 year old Vitoldas Platakis of Victoria Street was arrested at the scene
He appeared at Nottingham Magistrates Court yesterday morning and was remanded into custody he’s due back in court on Tuesday 27th July.
Detective Inspector Becky Hodgman from Nottinghamshire Police said: “We were called to the incident on Thursday morning and following our investigations a man has now been charged with murder.
“I would like to reassure residents we are not looking for anyone else in connection with this incident and our enquiries will continue.”
