A man from Cleethorpes has been sentenced to life in prison for four offences including serious sexual assault.

It happened back in July and August of 2020.

27-year-old Jake Campbell of Imperial avenue, Cleethorpes was found guilty by a Jury of offences against three women.

Campbell was charged with with rape, attempted rape, assaulting a woman by penetration and actual bodily harm.

He appeared at Grimsby Crown Court for sentencing and was told he'll serve a minimum of 13 years.

Officer in the Case Detective Constable Rick Brackenbury from our Protecting Vulnerable People unit said:

“I’d like to start by commending the victims for their courage in coming forward, and also thank them for their patience throughout the entirety of the lengthy investigation whilst officers conducted extensive lines of enquiry and seized and reviewed a significant amount of CCTV.

“On three separate occasions, Campbell preyed on and stalked three lone, innocent women, causing so much fear in one of them that she was genuinely scared for her life in his unprovoked and violent attack. He then put them through the horrific ordeal of an eight-day trial due to his failure to admit to his abhorrent crimes.

“It is because of their bravery, and the hard work of many officers across our force, that we were able to gather a significant amount of evidence to ensure that a very dangerous man is behind bars for a significant amount of time.

“The result in this case reflects the tenacity and dedication of police to keep violent, dangerous offenders like Campbell of our streets. I know that whilst the result here today does not take away the pain and suffering caused, I hope it will give the victims and their families some comfort in knowing he is where he belongs, locked away in prison.

“We take all reports of crimes of this nature seriously and would urge anyone who thinks they have been a victim of rape, attempt rape or other sexual offences, to please come forward. When you are ready, you can contact us on our non-emergency number 101, or 999 if you are in immediate danger. We will listen, and we will continue to work tirelessly to get justice.”
