The new Prime Minister is in Northern Ireland today (Monday) as he continues his tour of the UK's devolved nations.

Sir Keir Starmer is going to Stormont to meet with political leaders before heading to Wales.

Speaking in Belfast on Sunday, New Northern Ireland Secretary Hilary Benn said it’s an important visit for the Prime Minister, “I think it’s really significant that in the beginning of his premiership he is visiting Scotland, Northern Ireland, and then Wales.”

“As you know Sir Keir Starmer has a very long interest in Northern Ireland. He worked as human rights advisor to the PSNI and is very, very committed to a new relationship with the Irish Government and to the institutions being successful in Northern Ireland.”

Sir Keir Starmer is likely to be asked about funding for public services and the redevelopment of the derelict Casement Park Stadium, which is supposed to be part of Euro 2028.

He's also likely to be told to make good on Labour's manifesto pledge to repeal the controversial Troubles legacy act.
