Queen Consort Camilla visits the West Midlands

This trip was rescheduled from last month due to Her Majesty having Covid-19

Camilla, Queen Consort visited the West Midlands today meeting schoolchildren, veterans and charity workers.

This trip was initially supposed to take place on February 14th last month, but was postponed due to Her Majesty having Covid-19.

On her first stop, she visited Elmhurst Ballet School in Birmingham to celebrate the school’s centenary.

The Duchess of Cornwall, who became Patron of the school in 2006, attended a special dance performance from pupils and recent graduates.

She also unveiled a plaque to mark 100 years of the school being open.

The Queen Consort then made her way to Southwater One Library in Telford where she met local charity representatives and veterans.

Her Majesty met members of Read Easy, a volunteer reading support group for adults, as well as representatives from Telford Crisis Support, Telford Aftercare Team, STAY and Maninplace, Shropshire Youth Support Trust and Parents Opening Doors.

Volunteers from East Shropshire Talking Newspaper, who provide a news and features audio service for the visually impaired and the team from Kind Direct, who support vulnerable/in crisis people with donated products also got to meet the Queen Consort.

Her Majesty also met veteran Erica Hanson, founder of the Telford Veterans Trail.

To end her trip, she unveiled a commemorative stone for this trail as well as a plaque to commemorate her visit to the building.
