Newquay tattoo artist found guilty of sex offences in New Zealand
Peter Roberts - also known as 'Shakey Pete' - will be sentenced on 5 May
A Newquay tattoo artist has been found guilty of a string of sex offences in New Zealand.
Peter Roberts - known as 'Shakey Pete' - appeared at New Plymouth Crown Court after pleading not guilty to one charge of sexual violation by unlawful sexual connection, and six charges of indecent assault when the trial began last week (Monday 23 January).
After hearing seven days of evidence in court, a jury of five men and seven women found Roberts guilty of all seven counts.
The offences occurred in 2020, after Roberts moved to New Zealand in 2018.
Three British women, who cannot be named for legal reasons, were called as witnesses for the prosecution.
Roberts said that his behaviour was merely "banter".
Roberts has been remanded into custody until his sentencing on 5 May.
