A man arrested over a triple stabbing in Manchester has now been detained under the mental health act.

The incident happened at a property on Barnard Road in the Gorton area on Sunday evening. Greater Manchester Police have confirmed everyone involved was known to one another.

All three were rushed to hospital, and despite the best efforts of emergency services, a 43-year-old woman died from her injuries.

In an update this evening (Thursday 22nd August) we're told the 17 year old girl is now in a stable condition in hospital, while a 64 year old man remains critical.

A 22 year old man originally arrested on suspicion of murder is now under the care of mental health professionals.
