Carlos Alcaraz wins Wimbledon men's final for a second time
The Princess of Wales made her second public appearance at the final
Carlos Alcaraz has won Wimbledon for the second year in a row, beating Novak Djokovic in straight sets.
Alcaraz had been the reigning champion going into the match on Sunday afternoon (July 14th), which saw a repeat of last year's final.
Serbian Djokovic had been looking to claim his title back from the 21-year-old Spaniard after a tight final in 2023 that saw Alcaraz come out on top after a five-set match.
This year's match ran for 2 hours and 27 minutes, as Alcaraz won three sets in a row (6-2, 6-2, 7-6) to retain his title.
He also has made history by winning his first four grand slams - becoming only the second man after Roger Federer to do so.
Speaking after his win, Alcaraz said in his post-match interview: "It is a dream for me, winning this trophy. When I was 11 or 12 years old, I said in an interview that I wanted to win Wimbledon and now I get to live my dream."
He also said: "For me, this is the most beautiful tournament, the most beautiful court. and of course, the most beautiful trophy."
Carlos was presented the trophy for the competition by Catherine, the Princess of Wales - in her second public appearance following her cancer diagnosis.
Kate, who is a patron of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club, made her presence known as she spoke to ball boys and girls ahead of the match on Centre Court.
She was accompanied to the event alongside daughter Princess Charlotte, who greeted fellow British players including Emma Raducanu and Sonay Kartal.
