Man dies after being pulled from River Wensum in Norwich
Officers were called to the Novi Sad Friendship Bridge on Saturday morning
Norfolk Police have launched an appeal after the body of a man was pulled from the River Wensum in Norwich.
Officers were alerted to the area near the Novi Sad Friendship Bridge which crosses the river at around 4:26am on Saturday morning (January 11th).
When responders arrived at the area, they found that a man had been seen in the water, and emergency services - including ambulances and fire and rescue services were called.
Eventually the body of the man - who is believed to be in his 40s - was pulled from the water and taken to hospital, where he died a short time later.
The man's next of kin has been informed and is being supported by officers, whilst officers work to establish how the man ended up in the water.
Currently, Norfolk Police are treating the man's death as unexplained and are now appealing for information as to how and why he entered the water.
Police now want to speak to anyone who may have been in the vicinity of the Novi Sad Friendship Bridge at the time of the incident.
The man is described as being Asian, having a slim build and around 5 foot 9 tall. He was wearing a black North Face puffer jacket, black trousers and a distinctive black wide brimmed hat. He was also carrying a large black holdall.
Those who may have seen anything suspicious or have any relevant information is being urged to get in contact as soon as possible.
