Giant Trump protest artwork appears on beach near Turnberry resort
Greenpeace unveils massive sand portrait to mark 100 days of Trump’s second term
A giant protest artwork featuring Donald Trump’s face has appeared on the beach outside his Turnberry golf resort in South Ayrshire.
The 55-metre-wide sand art was created overnight by environmental campaigners to mark the first 100 days of Trump’s second term as US President.
The piece includes a bold message in the sand reading: “Time to resist - fight the billionaire takeover”.
Greenpeace UK teamed up with art collective ‘Sand in Your Eye’ to create the striking image, which was captured from the air with drone footage.
The protest is aimed at what Greenpeace calls Trump’s attack on climate protections.
They accuse him of boosting fossil fuels, slashing environmental regulations, and working hand-in-hand with billionaire oil executives.
Areeba Hamid, co-executive director of Greenpeace UK, said: “Trump is putting the profits of his billionaire friends ahead of people and the planet.
"It’s time to resist the billionaire takeover of our rights and freedoms.”
Campaigners have also replaced ads at bus stops near the US embassy in London with posters carrying the same message as the beach artwork.
