Teenage boy dies after 'going into water' on Wirral

A teenage boy has died after going into water on the Wirral.

Emergency services were called to an area of Eastham Locks off Bankfields Drive at around 17:45BST on Wednesday 30 April.

The circumstances of how the 16-year-old went into the water are unclear, but there are not believed to be an suspicious circumstances.

Police, ambulance crews, firefighters and the coastguard were all involved in the search for th teenager.

Wirral Local Policing Inspector Sharon Robinson said: “Our thoughts and condolences are with the family and friends of the boy following this tragic incident, and specialist officers will be supporting them, as well as those who saw what happened.

"We ask that you please give them privacy at this difficult time.”
