Stonehenge had a little bit of a transformation in honour of Her Majesty The Queen.

In celebration for the Platinum Jubilee this week, eight different images of Queen Elizabeth II were projected onto the stones.

They showed her journey from her coronation up to the present day.

The iconic World Heritage site was lit up in the darkness, to honour the first British monarch to commemorate 70 years on the throne.

Her Majesty's love for animals was also captured in the images, with one showing her corgis, while another showing her on a horse.

It's not the first time English Heritage have projected images onto the stones.

They previously honoured eight ‘unsung champions of heritage’, who played a big part during the pandemic.

It begins a long week of events across Wiltshire to celebrate The Queen.

This includes beacon lighting, street parties, fetes and 'Big Jubilee Lunches'.

English Heritage will be lighting a beacon at Stonehenge.
