Man left with life-threatening injuries following Southend incident
A 21-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder
A man has been left in a "life-threatening condition" in hospital after an incident which took place in Southend.
Essex Police were alerted to a serious assault which took place in the area of Greyhound Way just before 5am on Sunday (February 16th).
Officers attended the scene immediately alongside ambulance services amid reports of a man who who had suffered a serious injury at the property.
Once there, they found a man requiring immediate medical attention and was taken to hospital shortly afterwards.
The man currently remains in hospital and has been described as being left with "life-threatening" injuries.
A woman who was at the house was also left with injuries following the attack, but these are not believed to be life-threatening. She was also taken to hospital.
It was quickly established that the attack had taken place at an address on the nearby Stadium Road.
Following lines of enquiry, a 21-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and currently remains in police custody where he is being questioned.
Investigations are now ongoing by Essex Police, and the force is now appealing to the public to come forward with any information relevant to the case.
Speaking on the case, senior investigating officer Detective Chief Inspector Terry Balding said: "At this stage our priority is establishing the circumstances of this incident.
“This presence will be around Greyhound Way and Stadium Road and we are maintaining a cordon at this time.
“Please approach my officers if you have any concerns or reach out to us directly with any information which could help us.
"We have established the incident which led to two people suffering injuries was confined to a single address, between people known to each other.
"An arrest was swiftly made and I am confident that at this stage there is no ongoing threat to the public."
