A group of men from across Glasgow will brave the early morning icy weather to climb a mountain, run half a marathon and go for a cold water dip three times over.

They'll scale the highest peaks in Scotland, England and Wales to raise money for our Cash For Kids Mission Christmas appeal later this month.

David Hanley from Wolftuna Club said: "We will be leaving Glasgow around 5pm at night to head down to Snowdonia and we hope to arrive about 10.30pm before starting the ascent.

"Once we are back down around 4am or 5am the next day we will instantly tackle the half marathon before going for a cold water dip."

There will be no time to rest for any of the boys because once the dip is over, they will be heading straight to Scafell Pike in England to repeat the challenge before heading to Ben Nevis in Scotland to do it all over again.

Aidan McIntyre added: "Eleven of us are doing the challenge and not everyone is at the same fitness level.

"Some of us are more mentally strong than others and we will bounce off each other to help encourage everyone to get this challenge done."

The three guys have been training for months including Justin McSweeney who is immersing himself in cold water every day for a whole year.

He said: "I started this at the beginning of the year and it has just become part of my daily routine like brushing my teeth.

"Sometimes I will do it in the morning and other times I will go for it at night.

"What keeps me going is knowing that we are helping to make Christmas that little bit better for thousands of kids all over Glasgow and the West."
