Four 12-year-old girls suffer serious burns at Brighton fast-food restaurant

Police say the incident happened in the toilets of Wendy's in Western Road

Four 12-year-old girls have suffered life-changing burns following an incident in a fast-food restaurant toilet in Brighton.

Police cordoned off an area of Western Road at around 8.30pm on Thursday (October 31st) after reports that people had been injured inside the Wendy's restaurant.

Officers say the girls remain in hospital with injuries described as serious but not life-threatening.

Sussex Police say there is 'nothing to suggest fireworks were used' and that enquiries to establish the cause of the fire are ongoing.

No arrests have been made and officers are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident.
