"I was performing at a festival and I was with Kelly Rowland, we did 'When Love Takes Over', which was new at the time," David explained: "He (Akon) was performing after me. I see him on stage, coming out of my show, and I'm like 'Woah Akon! I love you!', and he's like 'You (are) the guy of 'Love Is Gone', I love this record'."

The pair then arranged to meet later that day at a recording studio in London, with David explaining that he told Akon he would wait for him.

"I'm waiting for him, and then, this is a REAL story..." David explained: "I rented Metropolis, an amazing studio in London, it was a Sunday night, I remember, it was hard to find a studio. I told him, 'You told me you want to work, we have the studio tonight', and he's looking at me like I'm crazy, you know? And he's like 'OK, OK, I (will) join you tonight'."

"I waited for the guy, and I was paying hourly for this studio, at the time it was a lot of money for me, and I'm waiting for him, you know, two hours, three hours, and then he's coming, and he's like 'OK let's go!', and then we did 'Sexy Chick' that day."

David when on to explain how if he had left the hotel and gone to the studio to wait for him that he doesn't think his hit would have been written.

He told Hits Radio: "One day, I'm playing in Cannes in the South of France, where they have the Cannes (Film) Festival, and I'm playing an instrumental I made. It's the instrumental of 'When Love Takes Over' and Kelly Rowland is in the club, she comes to me and asks me, 'What is the record?'. I said: 'It's just a beat I made', she's like: 'Can I write on it?'

"She believed in the record. Funnily enough, at the time Nervo who became famous DJs, were songwriters, and they worked together writing 'When Love Takes Over', and that was my first big hit. Also a Grammy winner, and at the time everything became insane."
