There are many things that happen in the Love Island villa that could leave viewers baffled - for example, who cooks meals for the Islanders? But there was a major confusion in last night's episode (27th June) that had fans of the show scratching their heads.

After joining the villa last week, 25-year-old Sam Bird has surely made his mark on the show - but where on earth was he in last night's episode?

There was no sign of Sam whatsoever for most of the show, and he only popped up in the last 15 minutes of the episode for the verdict, sitting next to his partner Samira as Caroline Flack revealed that the public had saved them.

He was then part of the group with Jack, Josh and Wes to decide which girl would be sent home - picking Zara to leave the villa.

But fans of the show were quick to notice his absence, and took to Twitter to air their confusion.

This comes after last night's double elimination, which saw the boys pick Zara to leave and the girls say goodbye to Eyal, with Zara becoming very upset and crying on Adam.

She since told the Mirror that she'll wait for Adam on the outside of the villa, saying, "We had such an intense relationship in the villa. I mean, we spent so much time together - more, I'd say, than any of the other couples did," adding that she "hopes he doesn't stray too far."

Show bosses also announced a massive shake-up, revealing that 12 more Islanders would be heading to the villa in tonight's episode (28th June) to stir things up - one of whom is Jack's ex-girlfriend.

Love Island continues every night on ITV2 at 9pm.
