Love Island secrets: What the producers don’t want you to know

Love Island is the show with a million twists and turns, jaw-dropping moments and endless drama. But, while Love Island contestants are filmed 24/7, viewers only get to see one hour of footage per day. Former Love Islanders Scott Thomas and Jess Shears spill the producers' secrets in an interview with Closer magazine, where they reveal the hidden antics from the other 23 hours we don't see.

Speaking to Closer Scott said, “There are two producers who we used to call our ‘mums’ because they talk to you and kind of check in and make sure you’re ok. And they’d sometimes give you pep talks. They would egg you on or encourage you to go after the girl you liked - they’d kind of give you a confidence boost."

He then revealed, "If you had a good conversation with someone in the villa, the producers would sometimes ask for you to have it again so they could film it properly or from a different angle.

"It’s not overly-produced or anything though – it’s all very organic and the feelings and actions are all real.”

Jess then added, “Last week Niall Aslam left the house, with reports that it was down to stress and anxiety. I’m not surprised as psychologically, the show is really tough.

"We had a psychologist on hand that we could speak to whenever we needed to. There were a lot of meltdowns in the villa over missing family and friends, lack of contact with the outside world and general cabin fever so the psychologist was on hand whenever anyone needed them."
