After the finale of Killing Eve last year, many telly watchers across the world just did NOT know what to do with their free time. Thankfully, shows like Line of Duty, Bodyguard and Jane The Virgin have filled various voids in our lives, but nothing gripped us quite like the cat and mouse game between spy Eve Polastri and assassin Villanelle.

Now that season two is on the way, we can't wait to get our teeth stuck into it, and see what the consequences were after Eve stabbed Villanelle - whose real name in the show is Oksana Astankova - and she managed to escape.

We know that Villanelle/Oksana survived because A) she's in the trailer for the new season and B) actress Jodie Comer is incredible.

And thanks to the brilliance of not only Jodie, but Sandra Oh who plays Eve and showrunner Phoebe Waller-Bridge of Fleabag fame, the show has been confirmed for a third season only a day after the second began airing in the US on 7th April.

Sadly, us Brits will have to wait a couple more months until we can continue our own Eve/Villanelle obsession as it's thought that it won't be airing here until June, but the news that there's enough material to warrant a third season has us very excited.

Along with the news of a third season comes the update that Phoebe's role of showrunner will be taken over by Suzanne Heathcote, who will serve as the show's lead writer and executive producer.

Of the new role, Phoebe said, "I’m very excited that the Killing Eve baton is being passed onto another incredible writer for Season 3. We can sleep soundly knowing these characters are safe in Suzanne Heathcote’s hilariously murderous hands."

Season two writer Emerald Fennell added, "I think the key thing is maintaining a through line with the incredible understanding our actors have of their characters. So much of the show has been established, I think, in terms of these characters and in terms of this amazing casting... I think that there's a lot that will keep this show going...if the writers change season to season, it's about picking great people."
