Emmy nominees 2021: Bridgerton, Emily In Paris and Selling Sunset all up for awards

Hamilton, WandaVision and The Mandalorian are up too!

Author: James WhitePublished 14th Jul 2021

Last year, much as it was for cinema, was a weird one for TV, with the pandemic impacting some shows and making stars of others. For the 2021 Emmys, the nominations include a group of returning stalwarts such as The Crown, The Handmaid's Tale and This Is Us, but plenty of new entries too. And Marvel has plenty to be happy about, as WandaVision picked up several nominations, with Kathryn Hahn's in particular provoking much joy.

Disney overall will be happy, as The Mandalorian shows up again and Hamilton makes several lists, while even The Falcon And The Winter Soldier picked up a mention, thanks to Don Cheadle's brief guest shot. Perhaps next year, the acting categories will be dominated by Loki variants. And if Alligator Loki doesn't make the list, we riot.

While there are a few surprise category entries (is The Flight Attendant really weighted towards its comedic side?) there is plenty to celebrate here, including plenty of nomination love for Ted Lasso, I May Destroy You, The Queen's Gambit and, perhaps predictably (but entirely justified), Mare Of Easttown. Sadly, Steve McQueen's Small Axe received no love, which is a shocker.

The awards ceremony will take place on 19 September. Find the main nominee categories below and the full list at the Television Academy's official site.
