A statement on the singer’s official Facebook page announced the news ‘David Bowie died peacefully today surrounded by his family after a courageous 18 month battle with cancer. While many of you will share in this loss, we ask that you respect the family’s privacy during their time of grief.’
The news comew just two days after Bowie released his twenty fifth studio album ‘Black Star’.
Stars including Madonna, Kanye West, Pharrell Williams, Sam Smith, Jess Glynne, Ricky Gervais and David Cameron have taken to social media to pay tribute to Bowie.
