Perrie hints at wedding plans to Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain
A Vegas wedding could be on the cards
Last updated 4th Oct 2024
Perrie Edwards' solo career has really taken off this year, with her debut single going straight into the Top 10. The Little Mix member teamed up with musical geniuses Ed Sheeran and RAYE for her first solo album — and with more new music imminent, there's just no stopping this girl.
As Perrie releases 'You Go Your Way', she joins Jordan Banjo and Perri Kiely on KISS Breakfast to tell us how her new four-minute track "keeps the party going", why she's considering a Vegas wedding and how she'd love to release a big Christmas song...
When is Perrie Edwards getting married?
Perrie spilled the tea with KISS FM Breakfast hosts, Jordan and Perri on the latest in her plans to marry fiancé and pro-footballer, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain. She said: "Weirdly the other day I thought to myself, why don't we just get hitched? Can you do that but then have a big wedding?"
The 'Forget About Us' singer's just itching to get wed: "I just want to marry him so bad. So I'm like maybe we should do like an intimate wedding. We'll like exchange our vows, we'll do our thing, and then then we'll do like the big event. I don't know if Alex is into the idea yet, but I'm leaning towards that because then we could get married like next week, or next month.
"I also said this could be jokes...we could go to Vegas, we could get married, have it off with a few people, come back and then do the big thing. I think that might be the way forward."
Perrie's new solo single
When announcing her new single 'You Go Your Way' on the day of its release (4th October) Perrie said: "I love it so much. This was in the running to be my first single, to be honest. That's how much I loved it and that's how much I really believed in it.
"I just think it's something so different. It's not like what I've already released. It's not like what's on my album. It's kind of like a bit of a wild card, like the sound of it. And the fact that it's like nearly four minutes long. I just think people aren't doing that much anymore. Like, I know RAYE does it and I love that. If it's creative and it's fun, why cut it off after two minutes? Let's just keep the party going.
"I've got some amazing remixes for it as well, which I'm really excited about. I've shot the music video and I love it. I did it with Charlie (Di Plácido). He's such a great director, so I'm like buzzing for everyone to see it. But yeah, I just love this song so much I can't explain it. When I hear it, it like takes over my body and that doesn't happen that often.
"It's a lot. There's a lot of drama."
Perrie on her Little Mix bandmates solo careers
When asked whether she's been keeping in touch with her Little Mix bandmates as they work on new albums, Perrie said she's keeping her cards close to her chest. But she had nothing but love for the girls:
"Obviously we were never going to do the same sound. We were SO individual in the group that when we left we just knew Leigh-Anne was gonna do this, Jade was gonna do this, Perrie was gonna do this. Although Perrie's still gotta do a little bit more of this...it's coming!
"But I do think it's nice that we're all so individual so we can all just do our own thing and then just big each other up for it."
Is Perrie bringing out a Christmas song?
Not yet, but she revealed on KISS Breakfast that she'd be up for it — and we're here for it! Perrie said: "I would love to. I need a big Christmas song."
Talking about putting up Christmas decorations, Perrie said: "I'm that person that puts them up like the 1st of November or something. I enjoy the lead up and the excitement and the build to Christmas more than I actually enjoy Christmas."
Asked what makes her start to feel Christmassy, Perrie said: "There's so many for me. One, the weather turning, when it's starting to feel crisp like Christmas. And then when the Halloween stuff starts coming out. Everything's leading in. Then I'm a Celeb starts coming on and as soon as I can start watching a Christmas movie, I'm in."
