Jess Glynne is the latest pop star to announce she’s undergoing vocal cord surgery.

The ‘Hold My Hand’ singer pulled out of the Isle of Wight Festival on Saturday on doctors’ orders and told fans at the time she was “devastated.”

Now, in a fresh Twitter post this afternoon Jess has revealed she is going under the surgeon’s knife and will be pulling out of further shows.

"I am so so sad to tell you that I'm having to have vocal surgery next week," Jess said.

"I'm so sorry and it kills me but I have to cancel some forthcoming shows and festivals. I'm a little scared but I will be back singing better than ever very soon! Love hugs and kisses Jess."

The surgery couldn’t come at a worse time for Jess less than two months before she releases her debut album ‘I Cry When I Laugh’.

25-year-old Jess was due to support John Legend on his upcoming UK tour and play T in the Park in July.

Jess’s woeful news comes a couple of months after Sam Smith pulled out of his Australian tour midway through when he haemorrhaged his vocal chords.

Following surgery, Sam was unable to speak for several weeks and was forced to use cur cards to accept his Top Male Artist honour at the Billboard Awards in May.

He returns to the live fray on 3rd July with a show at Thetford Forest.
