Ellie Goulding confirms new album will be released this year.
She describes it as "bigger" than Halcyon and Lights
Fantastic news for all you Ellie Goulding fans – the songstress has confirmed that her fervently awaited new album will be released later this year.
28-year-old Ellie has been hard at work in the studio since late 2014 with long-term collaborator Jim Eliot and the Midas touched hitmaker Max Martin (Katy Perry, Maroon 5, Taylor Swift) and finally it’s going to see the light of day soon!
Describing the direction of the music, Ellie told Billboard: "I don't really know why this word seems appropriate but it's definitely bigger.
"Whether that means it's more adventurous, or a bit more ambitious, or a bit more daring, I don't know. But I'm certainly taking on something a lot bigger than I have before and sonically it's a lot bigger.
"I feel like there were maybe certain restrictions on the last album. But I'm at a point now with this album where it's just taken on a new life now of its own and I can't stop it.
"So that album is coming out and what people make of it I don't know, but it is coming. It's nearly finished and it will be out this year. Even if it's out on December 30, which is my birthday, it will be out this year."
Ellie’s previous two albums, 2010’s ‘Lights’ and 2012’s ‘Halcyon’, both stormed to number one and Ellie has sold more than 1.5million albums and 4.3 million singles in the UK alone.
Lifted from the Fifty Shades of Grey soundtrack and released in January, ‘Love Me Like You Do’ is Ellie’s biggest hit to date topping the charts in dozens of countries around the globe and selling 2.3million downloads in the US alone.
