Ed Sheeran is set to headline Glastonbury 2017!
If reports are to believed Sheeran will take the Saturday night headline slot on the Pyramid Stage at next year’s festival. A source told a national newspaper: “Michael (Eavis, Glasto organiser) is delighted to get Ed signed up. It's going to be a huge moment for the festival having him up there marking his comeback in front of a giant crowd.”
It’s not the first time rumours of Ed playing the festival have circulated, with bookies suspending betting on the option in November this year. The singer has made no secret of his desire to headline the festival and all signs point to him gearing up for a return to the spotlight.
Earlier this week, Ed made a return to social media exactly one year after he quit last year. Sheeran hadn’t posted on Instagram, Twitter or Facebook since 13th December 2015 when he announced he was taking a break. Sheeran explained: ‘I find myself seeing the world through a screen and not my eyes so I’m taking this opportunity of me not having to be anywhere or do anything to travel the world and see everything I missed.’ Ed finished his post ‘the 3rd album is on its way and is the best thing I have made thus far. See you all next autumn, and thank you for being amazing.’
Glastonbury 2017 runs from 21st to 25th June at Worthy Farm, already confirmed to headline are Radiohead.
