Ed Sheeran has announced ‘Galway Girl’ as the next single off his album ‘÷’.

We hung out with Ed the day before his new album dropped at Shoreditch Town Hall. He told us that he was going to let the public decide what would be the next single off the album. Ed explained: “I want to wait a couple of weeks and see what reacts in terms of streaming and charts”, and that’s just what he’s done with ‘Galway Girl’ cutting sitting at Number 2 in the KISS Top 40 and ‘Shape Of You’ as Number 1.

Ed worked closely with Irish folk band Beoga on the track and told us he had to “to fight to get the song on the album because it’s Irish folk music” . He also said it was one of the tracks he was most excited about the world hearing. Ed added: “I just know it’s going to work and I really want people to listen to it and like it.”

Ed kicked off his ÷ Divide World Tour last night in Turin in Italy. He also confirmed he’ll be headlining this year’s Glastonbury festival, announcing the news in a video on Instagram.

Ed will take the Sunday night slot at the festival, with Radiohead headlining the Friday night and Foo Fighters taking care of Saturday night.

Ed  treated us to an amazing live set including his singles ‘Castle On The Hill’ and 'Shape Of You'. Plus an AMAZING cover of Justin Bieber's 'Love Yourself' which Ed wrote!
