Dr Dre releases new album Compton
Compton: A Soundtrack by Dr. Dre is his first in almost 16 years and features Eminem, Snoop Dog and Kendrick Lamar among others.
Dr Dre has basically sent the internet into meltdown with the release of his new album Compton.
The album, which features Eminem, Snoop Dog, Kendrick Lamar, The Game and more, is his first in almost 16 years!
‘Compton: A Soundtrack by Dr. Dre’ is inspired by the N.W.A. biopic Straight Outta Compton, which hits cinemas August 28th.
> Describing this album as his ‘grande finale’, Dre also announced that he’ll donate his artist royalties earned from the album, to the funding of a new performing arts and entertainment facility in Compton.> > > > "I feel it's the right thing to do and I hope everybody appreciates the work I put into this album," he said.> > > > “I’ve been really trying to do something special for Compton and just couldn't quite figure out what it was. Compton Mayor Aja Brown actually had this idea and she was already in the process of working on it. I said, 'Boom, this is what we should do.'"
But what happened to the long-awaited Detox album? Dre says the reason it never came out was simply that he ‘didn’t like it’.
> “It wasn't good. I'm gonna keep it all-the-way 1,000 with you, seriously. I worked my ass off on it, I don't think I did a good enough job, and I couldn't do that to my fans and I couldn't do that to myself, to be perfectly honest with you. I just wasn't feeling it."
It’s because of this perfectionist trait that we’ve had no new albums from Dre since the 1999 release of ‘2001’.
