Camila Cabello reveals why she left Fifth Harmony
It's been just over a year!
Camila Cabello often avoids explaining why she left the girl group Fifth Harmony, but has finally open up about her departure just over a year ago.
Fifth Harmony were formed in 2012 during the X-Factor US series and in a Instagram post her ex-bandmates expressed their 'hurt' and confusion when she called it quits.
Cabello has since gone solo and released her self-titled debut solo album (January 12). Last summer, Camila released two new singles, “OMG” featuring Quavo and “Havana” featuring Young Thug. Havana sat comfortably in the charts at No. 1 through to the end of 2017.
Speaking in a recent interview, Cabello explained that her first solo collaboration with Shawn Mendes in 2015 for ‘I Know What You Did Last Summer’, caused tension among the girl group.
She also stated that she felt 'shut out' after wanting to stay in the group while working on a solo album. Cabello even offered to write material for the group but was rejected.
“I was just curious and I wanted to learn and I saw all these people around me making music, writing songs and being so free,” Cabello said. “I just wanted to do that and it did not work.”
Eventually, Camila was given the ultimatum and well, we all know what she chose.
“It became clear that it was not possible to do solo stuff and be in the group at the same time,” she explained.
However, speaking on her relationship with her former band members, she's focused on growth and moving on.
“I have to make space for the good stuff to happen in my life ... I don’t like holding onto the past.
Fifth Harmony has continued as a four piece and released their self-titled third album last year.
