Adele says she "regrets" meeting Damon Albarn
The Hello singer says she regrets meeting the Blur frontman
In her cover interview with music magazine Rolling Stone, Adele talks about her songwriting with Damon Albarn.
On the subject of meeting Damon and spending time with him, writing songs for her upcoming album (none of which made the final record), Adele said: "It ended up being one of those 'don't meet your idol' moments. The saddest thing was that I was such a big Blur fan growing up. But it was sad, and I regret hanging out with him."
Back in September, Damon Albarn spoke of his work with Adele and claimed: "Will she use any of the stuff? I don’t think so. The thing is, she’s very insecure. And she doesn’t need to be, she’s still so young.” Albarn also said that all the tracks he'd heard were "very middle of the road".
In response to calling her insecure, Adele told Rolling Stone: "He said I was insecure, when I'm the least insecure person I know. I was asking his opinion about my fears, about coming back with a child involved—because he has a child—and then he calls me insecure?"
On the music the pair wrote together, Adele said: "None of it was right. None of it suited my record."
Adele's third studio album, 25, is set for release on Friday 20 November, while her first single from the record, Hello, remains at Number One in the UK singles charts and is the biggest selling Number One in three years.
