The moment that all Downton Abbey fans have been waiting for has finally arrived - the trailer for the upcoming film version of everyone's beloved period drama has just been released!

Starring all our favourites from the TV show, the Downton Abbey film will be released in cinemas on Friday 13th September, and the trailer reveals that everything is just as it was before - except that this time, the King and Queen are coming to stay with the family.

Hugh Bonneville's character, Robert Crawley, Earl of Grantham, announces the news to his family after receiving a letter, causing all the house workers to fall into chaos - but everyone snaps back into shape when Carson returns to the abbey.

Reportedly set one year on from when the TV series ended, we're happy to see all our favourites - Dame Maggie Smith, Penelope Wilton, Laura Carmichael, Jim Carter, Michelle Dockery and Joanne Froggatt - returning for the big screen.

However, we also have two new characters to contend with: Imelda Staunton as Lady Bagshaw, who is married to Carson, and Tuppence Middleton as Lucy.

Imelda is a prolific actress, known for many things like her role as Professor Dolores Umbridge in the Harry Potter film series, and Tuppence is a fairly new actress but will be recognised from her roles in War & Peace and Black Mirror.
