Disney's live-action remake of Aladdin has certainly made an impact on fans all over the world, as the film has raked in $1 BILLION at the box office, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
And it's made a HUGE impact on Will Smith, as this makes the film his highest ever grossing to date!
Taking to Instagram, Will posted video thanking the film's fans for their support. He said, 'To be in this game as long as I’ve been in this game, and to have my biggest movie at this point in my career, I just want to say thank you'.
He then said, 'thank you' again, but repeated the phrase in twelve different languages, which reflected the global success of the film. He concluded with, 'Thank you, everybody around the world!'
The film, which was released this year and stars Will Smith as the Genie, Mena Massoud as Aladdin and Naomi Scott as Princess Jasmine, has taken in $343.1 million in North America, whilst raking in $656.2 million from overseas.
Mena also took to social media to reiterate Smith's words. In a video he posted to his 2 million followers, he said, 'I told people six months ago that I thought Aladdin would hit a billion.
'I got laughed at quite a bit, I got dismissed but I believed in what we were showing people and the heart and soul that we put into the film and what the film represents. Representation, diversity, identity. I’m really glad to say that we’re officially the most ethnically diverse cast to ever lead a film to the billion-dollar club'.
The film joins 'the billion-dollar-club' with the likes of Captain Marvel and Avengers: Endgame, which recently became the highest-grossing film of all time.
Congratulations!
