Ever wondered how The Weeknd lost the ‘e’ in his name? The singer real name Abel Tesfaye has been explaining how his stage name came to be: ‘I left home when I was about 17 dropped out of high school. I hated my name at the time though so I tried it as a stage name. It sounded cool. I took out the 'e' because there was already a Canadian band named The Weekend.’

The Weeknd recently performed his latest track ‘In The Night’ on The Tonight Show with Lauryn Hill, who was originally booked to join him for his GRAMMYs performance.

The Weeknd will be performing at The BRITs tomorrow (Wednesday 24th February 2015)
