Simon Cowell confirms solo material for One Direction

Will we be hearing solo material soon!?

Music mogul Simon Cowell has confirmed the One Direction boys will have solo projects happening in the near future.

The remaining members of One Direction are currently enjoying an extended hiatus following a busy year, but now boss Simon has confirmed there will be solo projects coming from Liam, Harry, Niall and Louis.

When asked about it in an interview with E! News, The X Factor judge replied “Yeah, there will be more, I’m absolutely sure of that.”

He also went on to praise the band for the success they have achieved since their careers began in the seventh series of The X Factor in 2010. Simon declared “Well, it was always going to come. You can’t work at that level, the way they did. I mean lots of things are going to be announced over the next few months, but they were, are, the nicest people, you know, to work with. Hardworking, appreciate everything, so it won’t be the end.”

Liam Payne has already teased fans of potential solo material after recording music in LA with music producer Juicy J before posting a snap of the pair in the recording studio.

The boys will be hoping to mirror the success that former band member Zayn Malik has achieved following the release of his debut single ‘Pillowtalk’. The song smashed the charts both in the UK and US with Zayn about to drop his debut album ‘Mind of Mine’ at the end of March.

The rest of the boys seem to be enjoying their time off at the moment, with Louis busy looking after new baby Freddie Reign, Niall travelling the world, Harry spotted on holiday with model Kendall Jenner and Liam enjoying his new romance with rumoured girlfriend Cheryl Fernandez-Versini.

Despite the break, Liam and Louis were out in full spirit at last month’s BRIT Awards where they picked up the award for Best British Video for their song ‘Drag Me Down’.

With no official confirmation date of any solo material, we are hoping it's sooner rather than later!
